Rampart Village Pizza Hut workers strike alleging wage theft [Video]

Dozens of workers blocked the entrance to a Pizza Hut on Rampart Boulevard and Temple Street in Rampart Village Wednesday, kicking off a three-day strike to protest alleged labor violations and wage theft.

“While working here, bosses have refused to give me my lunch, 10-minute breaks, and paid sick leave,” a Spanish-speaking worker said through a translator. “Many of us have to work two jobs, and even then, we’re barely able to keep up with the cost of living.”

Workers said some colleagues who had worked for the chain for two decades were let go without reason. Another employee told KNX News’ Emily Valdez the restaurant owes her about $20,000 in unpaid wages over two years.
