North Carolina: Two local churches hold bookbag giveaway at Tanglewood Park [Video]

NEWS. IN ADDITION TO RANDOLPH COUNTY, TOMORROW WILL BE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS IN GUILFORD, DAVIDSON, THOMASVILLE CITY AND ALAMANCE BURLINGTON SCHOOLS. DAVIE COUNTY STUDENTS HEAD BACK TO THE CLASSROOM ON WEDNESDAY. AND AS DAVIE COUNTY STUDENTS PREPARE TO HEAD BACK TO THE CLASSROOMS THIS WEEK. TWO LOCAL CHURCHES CAME TOGETHER AT TANGLEWOOD PARK TO GIVE AWAY BOOK BAGS STUFFED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES. WXII 12 SPOKE TO THE PASTORS AND THEIR CONGREGANTS ON WHAT EVENTS LIKE THESE MEAN FOR THE COMMUNITY. PEOPLE FROM CORNATZER METHODIST CHURCH AND GODS PLAN MINISTRIES HOSTING A BOOK BAG GIVEAWAY AND COOKOUT AT TANGLEWOOD PARK. ITS UNBELIEVABLE TO SEE PEOPLE FROM BOTH CHURCHES BECAUSE PEOPLE FROM BOTH CHURCHES GO TO BOTH CHURCHES. AND SO THERE WAS NO PROBLEM GETTING THE PEOPLE TO WORK TOGETHER. A DAY OF SINGING, FELLOWSHIP AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. FAMILIES SAY THIS HELPS TO FILL A NEED FOR THEIR NEIGHBORS. ITS SHOWING THAT WERE SELFLESS, YOU KNOW, AND WERE GIVING. AND WE WANT TO SHARE WHAT WE HAVE WITH THE COMMUNITY. ITS NOT JUST ABOUT OURSELVES. THERES A LOT OF PEOPLE STRUGGLING, SO ITS ALWAYS NICE WHEN THE COMMUNITY CAN COME TOGETHER AND, YOU KNOW, WE CAN DO SUCH A SMALL, YOU KNOW, DONATION OR A SMALL GIFT FOR, FOR ESPECIALLY OUR CHILDREN AND OUR YOUNGER GENERATION AS DAVIE COUNTY STUDENTS HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY. ORGANIZERS SAY SMALL GESTURES LIKE THESE SET THEM ON THE RIGHT PATH. I MYSELF AM A TEACHER AS WELL, AND SO ITS IMPORTANT TO ME THAT OUR KIDS ARE ABLE TO SHOW UP WITH WHAT THEY NEED TO SUCCEED, BECAUSE THATS THE BOTTOM LINE. WXII 12 BACK TO SCHOOL GUIDE IS A GREAT RESOURCE FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS. YOU CAN FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AND FREE MOBILE APP. IT HAS EVERYTHING FROM THE WEATHER FORECAST TO LUNCH MENUS
