Some local businesses are reaping economic benefits of movies filming in Mississippi [Video]

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -A lot more goes into movies filming in Mississippi than what you may realize and it’s giving an economic boost to some businesses that never imagined being tied to the industry.

“For my business, it tripled my income for the month that they are here if not a little more,” said Cathy Hillman, owner/operator of Catering by Cathy. “I haven’t really sat down to see what I’ve spent because I’ve been so so busy.”

She’s making breakfast and lunch for the crew of anywhere from 60-75 people every day, complete with special requests.

“We have vegetarians,” she noted. “We have vegans.”

She’s getting a double dose of benefits with the film Off the Grid, starring Josh Duhamel. They transformed Catering by Cathy in Olde Towne Clinton into a general store for two weeks to shoot scenes.
