FILMMAKER Morgan Spurlock, the mastermind behind the Oscar-nominated documentary Super Size Me, has died at age 53.
Spurlock died in Upstate New York on Thursday from complications of cancer, his family announced on Friday.
“It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother, Morgan,” the filmmaker’s brother, Craig Spurlock, said.
“Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity.
“The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man.
“I am so proud to have worked together with him.”
A West Virginia native, Morgan Spurlock rose to prominence in 2004 with the release of his documentary Super Size Me, which he starred in.
