A minister has offered a glimpse of what happens when he is forced to juggle his responsibilities as a father with his duty to the church.

There’s no getting away from the fact that working parents are struggling to find a healthy work-life balance. A Pew Research Center survey from 2015 of just over 1,800 U.S. parents with children under the age of 18 found 56 percent believe achieving this balance is difficult.

With childcare proving expensive or often unavailable and jobs consistently demanding, there are often occasions when these two worlds collide as David Nicolson knows only too well.

Nicolson is a parish minister in the Church of Scotland, Scotland’s national presbyterian church. His duties range from preparing and preaching scriptures as well as other pastoral care to the usual mix of funerals, weddings and baptism.
