MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Move to West Memphis, Arkansas, get paid $10,000. City leaders are trying a popular initiative to convince new residents to move to the East Arkansas community.

West Memphis is one of three Arkansas cities offering incentives to relocate, paying people thousands of dollars.

But the deal comes with requirements—the first one is that you must be working remotely right now.

“You know, you got small town living, but with big city advantages,” Mayor Marco McClendon told Action News 5 Wednesday.

McClendon said West Memphis is now recruiting remote workers through the Make My Move campaign. Buy a house in the city and get $10,000. Rent an apartment and receive $5,000.

“You got small town living on this side of the river,” said Mayor McClendon, “but you are five minutes away from downtown Memphis. You can enjoy Grizzlies games [and] historical Beale Street.”
