Italy launches digital visa for remote workers to relocate [Video]

If you’re a remote worker who wishes you could trade in your drab home office for one overlooking the scenic Amalfi Coast or vineyards of Tuscany — you just may be in luck.

Italy is offernig a new “digital nomad” visa that allows Americans to relocate for up to a year, with the option to renew annually. Without a visa, foreigners can only stay in Italy for up to 90 days and they cannot work.

According to Italy’s Ministry of the Interior, the visa is available to “digital nomads and remote workers” who “carry out a highly qualified work activity through the use of technological tools that allow working remotely.”

But not everyone is eligible. According to USA Today, freelancers, self-employed workers and remote employees on a company payroll can apply if:
