Helping small businesses blossom in Grayson County – KTEN [Video]

DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — Nurturing dreams and growing futures is the theme for the 8th annual National Small Business Development Center day.

“We’re helping contribute to the Texas economy one business at a time,” said Karen Stidham, director of the Grayson Small Business Development Center. “SBDCs are located throughout the United States and her territories. There are over one thousand SBDC centers.”

The Grayson SBDC usually sees 200 to 300 small businesses yearly.

“We work with people who have great ideas and want to turn them into a small business, and we work with people who are already in business and just want to grow that business; or maybe they have problems with it they need some help with,” said Stidham. 

One of the Grayson SBDC’s clients is Pop Around the Corner, selling gourmet popcorn and gifts on Main Street in Denison since 2015. Owner Derrick Roberts said the SBDC contributed to the success of his small business.
