The South Carolina signee has received a host of major awards and now, she has added a national honor which highlights athletics, grades and character.

CAMDEN, S.C. — With Camden on spring break, Joyce Edwards was headed to the gym Wednesday in the lunch hour to get some work in on the court as she is staying sharp for her upcoming All-Star games.

But when she walked in, Edwards knew something was up when she saw a small crowd in the arena.

The surprise featured two-time WNBA All-Star and Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally who greeted Joyce with the Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year trophy.

Edwards was then greeted by her family, teammates and Camden dignitaries who were a part of the surprise celebration.
