RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Workplace Disability Network of the Black Hills (WDNBH) works with businesses to promote inclusivity in the hiring process and workplace.
WDNBH connects employers with individuals with disabilities. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and WDNBH is hosting its annual Lunch and Learn to help participants understand the key elements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This year’s theme is “Access to Good Jobs for All” which focuses on the need for equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
Heidi Mecham, Executive Director of WDNBH, explained that there’s a misconception about hiring people with disabilities.
“A lot of times people think it’s going to be too expensive or complicated,” Mecham said, “Most accommodations are actually pretty reasonable.”
