ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – On the second Tuesday of every month, you’ll find many hands making light work at the Love and Care Ministries Packing Wearhouse on North 1st Street. For six years and counting, they have welcomed volunteers to assemble care packs of food and snacks distributed to nearly 40 school campuses in the area. The program ensures that students who rely on school breakfast and lunches also have something on their plates over the weekend. Director of Ministries Terry Davis said the involvement he sees from volunteers each time is overwhelming, to say the least.
“We get to be here and see what they do, and it charges us up. This is our sixth year now, and we’ve never had enough to get the job done. There was a whole other crew here last night that unboxed everything so we could get our assembly lines running tonight,” Davis said.
