First Alert Weather days ahead for dangerous heat in Phoenix area [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — As September debuts, we are declaring First Alert Weather Days for dangerous heat Wednesday through Friday.

Over the weekend, the National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Watch for much of the state from Wednesday morning through Friday evening.

Temperatures will approach a dangerous level during this time, with some Valley hotspots hitting 114 degrees.

Take extra precautions with school children and pack extra water and ice packets for lunches. Adjust PE and recess time outdoors, and take plenty of cool shade breaks if you work outside.

The Valley’s rain chances are pretty slim, with this high-pressure ridge dominating our weather pattern. The ridge should weaken a bit by the weekend, with highs dropping below 110.
