Cooling centers open for another heat wave [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Cooling centers are open again on Wednesday to offer people relief from the heat and humidity.

The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay on Union Court opens at 8 a.m.

Anyone can utilize the cooling center, regardless of where they live, especially if they don’t have access to air-conditioning or if they work outside and need a break.

“We have a few people in there. It’s more than normal. Usually we have one or two that will stay for a little bit longer past lunch. We’re seeing a little bit more because we’re extending some of our services,” Becky Darrow, Salvation Army director of social services, said.

And the Salvation Army isn’t just offering relief from the heat.
