As JCPS parents hope for routes to be restored, district urges caution with nothing official yet | Education [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Families have high hopes that Jefferson County Public Schools may restore some transportation for certain students and schools, but the district said nothing is official until the board approves a plan.

At Tuesday’s board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio said the district will look into restoring routes for free or reduced lunch students that attend Manual, Male and Butler high schools, all students that attend Johnson Traditional Middle School, and direct runs to Coleridge-Taylor and Young Elementary schools.

It would benefit Chrissi Collins’ daughter. Collins works third shift, and ends her work day the same time her daughter starts school at Butler Traditional.

“That would be great because as of now, with my work schedule, I work 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Well school starts at 7:30 a.m.,” Collins said.
