Woman Abroad Gets a Haircut, Realizes There’s Been a ‘Miscommunication’ [Video]

An American woman shared her hair mishap after she went to a salon in Germany.

Julie Cortino (@dottis.julie) , a 45-year-old digital nomad, decided that while exploring the city, she could use a fresh haircut, and a local salon with rave Google reviews seemed like the perfect choice. The results quickly gained attention, amassing 84,500 views.

“I showed the woman the photos of what I wanted. Then, using hand gestures, my limited German, and Google Translate, I think she took my explanation of short and choppy literally,” Cortino explained to Newsweek.

She had been aiming for a tousled, medium-length bob inspired by Pinterest images that featured soft, effortless waves. But what she ended up with was a much shorter, curly haircut—quite the departure from her original vision.
