Vermont State Police try new recruiting technique with ‘pop-up’ tests [Video]

THE MAYOR SAYS HE’S STILL COMMITTED TO LAUNCHING AN INVESTIGATION as 2024 comes to an END THE VERMONT STATE POLICE is LAUNCHING SOME NEW RECRUITING TACTICS TO TRY AND BOOST THEIR WINTER CLASS. THEIR NEXT ACADEMY CLASS STARTS IN JANUARY. ONE OF THE TACTICS IS HOSTING A “POP UP” TEST WHERE PEOPLE CAN SHOW UP TO TAKE A PHYSICAL TEST AND ASK QUESTIONS, WITHOUT ANY KIND OF APPOINTMENT. THE FIRST ONE IS TOMORROW AT 10 A-M AT THE WILLISTON BARRACKS. NBC5 STEPHEN BIDDIX TOOK THE TEST. THE BIG QUESTION TONIGHT: DID HE PASS? 00:00:09:00- 00:00:37:10 WE’RE HERE AT THE WILLISTON VERMONT STATE POLICE BARRACKS WITH LT. ROB MCKENNA AND YOU DO A LOT OF RECRUITING FOR VERMONT STATE POLICE AND YOU HAVE A NEW KIND OF PROGRAM COMING UP THIS WEEKEND. IF YOU CAN EXPLAIN A LITTLE BIT WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE AND WHAT WE’RE GOING TO BE DOING HERE TODAY. WE DO. SO RECENTLY WE’VE COME UP WITH THIS IDEA OF A POP UP TEST. THE FIRST PART OF OUR APPLICATION PROCESS IS A PHYSICAL TEST. IT CONSISTS OF A MILE AND A HALF RUN, A 500 METER ROW, AND THEN A PUSH UP AND SET UP ASSESSMENT. WHAT WE’RE GOING TO DO TODAY IS PUT YOU THROUGH THAT AND SEE HOW YOU FEEL. 00:00:29:10 IMG 7010
