Steve Scalise back to work in Washington after cancer remission [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — House Majority Leader Steve Scalise’s cancer is in remission after getting treatment.

“Leader Scalise has successfully completed his autologous stem cell treatment and has been medically cleared to resume travel,” his office said in a Feb. 8 statement. “He is in complete remission and will be returning to Washington next week for votes. He is thankful for his positive prognosis, and for the support of his medical team, family, colleagues, and fellow Louisianans.”

Scalise had been working remotely while getting treatment, according to a Jan. 5 health update from his office. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, in August 2023 after getting blood work done.
