BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A deadline is approaching for those who are self-employed or have a side hustle. The IRS is expecting some tax payments from you.
Most are used to hearing about the April 15 tax deadline every year, but those who are self-employed must make tax payments four times each year.
Monday, Sept. 16 is the third quarter deadline for all the income earned between June 1 and Aug. 31.
Mark Steber, Jackson Hewitt Chief Tax Information Officer, says there are 30 to 40 million people across the country who are self-employed and will need to make a payment.
He says those who don’t pay on time risk penalties, under-payment, interest, and more.
