Gadsden State providing nurses to help with shortage [Video]

GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) – A nursing shortage across Alabama has provided the LPN class at Gadsden State Community College the opportunity to fill job openings while contributing to the workforce.

Students were recently pinned as a symbol of their hard work and dedication signifying the completion of the nursing program and entry into the nursing profession.

Gadsden State Dean of Health Sciences Joey Battle says the LPN program was re-initiated three years ago. According to the Alabama Department of Labor, open positions for registered nurses dominated online job postings throughout the month of November in 2024 with more than 4,000 ads.

“We have actually been voted the number one nursing program in Alabama so we’re very proud of that. This is just an extension of our nursing program we have great faculty,” said Battle.

“The workforce, it’s hard out there in all areas. They are some of the first contents that a lot of patients have with healthcare so, …
