Melanie Lynskey has nothing but love and respect for her husband Jason Ritter!
While exclusively speaking to PEOPLE at the Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 22, the Yellowjackets star, 47, admitted that balancing work and family has “been tricky” but expressed her gratitude for Ritter — and the fact that his show Matlock is filmed in Los Angeles.
“It’s so wonderful that his job is in Los Angeles so our daughter has someone consistent to be home with her,” Lysnkey shared. “We’re very fortunate to both be working. It’s a really difficult time in our industry, so many of our friends are not working. So I think we’re really lucky to be in the position that we’re in.”

She also noted how she and Ritter were “very lucky” to have a “great nanny” in both Los Angeles and Canada where they both work.
